I’m the guy who lives in the white house on the corner of the 5-way stop at Park, McGaughey and Edwardsville Street…. The house with the little house in the back of the lot. My name is Dennis Poehler.
I was first introduced to Worden Thanksgiving of 1992. Of course, there was a woman involved. My wife’s family has been in this house since the early 1930s. In 2018, we started spending more time here, and when my wife’s mom passed in 2020, we began the process of moving here. We became official residents of the Village of Worden in June 2021.
In 2009, I retired from the Wisconsin Army National Guard with 34 years of service. After retirement, I finished a Bachelor’s degree in general studies with a minor in accounting from Columbia in Missouri. I was certified to substitute teach in Adams-Friendship, WI and taught multiple grades until 2017. I also held the church treasures position from 2010-2020, and I am currently a member of the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Village of Worden. I have been a member of the American Legion since 1992 and am currently a member of the Worden Post 564. I am also a member of Staunton VFW Post 1241.
After Working with the village board regarding some zoning issues and sitting in on a number of village board meetings over the last three years, I have decided to become a candidate for one of the Village of Worden trustee positions. My goal? To help make village government more open and accessible.
